Job Requirements

  • Minimum of two years equivalent education and/or experience
  • possession or ability to obtain food handler's permit
  • valid Oregon driver's license
  • successful completion of background check
  • commitment to regular attendance
  • ability to work independently and handle physical demands including standing, walking, lifting up to 30 pounds
  • ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • availability for on-call work as needed
  • willingness to interact with the public including potentially hostile or challenging situations

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • two years of community service experience including supervising others
  • six months of food handling experience
  • knowledge of client confidentiality and mandatory reporting rules
  • ability to organize and structure own work and exercise initiative
  • strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • basic technology skills including voicemail, email, word processing and data entry
  • ability to interact effectively with elderly persons and volunteers
  • ability to maintain accurate records and reports
  • arithmetic skills for accurate money handling
  • ability to communicate program information to community groups
  • familiarity with local elderly population and community resources
  • commitment to ethical behavior and professional representation of the agency

Job Duties

  • Coordinate activities during nutrition site operation
  • receive, hold and serve foods following health and sanitation procedures
  • deliver meals to homebound clients as needed
  • recruit, supervise, schedule, train and instruct volunteers
  • receive fees, complete bank deposits and record transactions
  • prepare monthly meal site records and report to supervisor
  • provide program information to community groups and organize outreach activities
  • plan and coordinate special events at the meal site
  • maintain information confidentiality and adhere to privacy regulations
  • serve as a mandatory reporter of suspected abuse of vulnerable populations
  • perform related duties as needed
