Job Requirements

  • minimum two years of combined education and experience related to community service and food handling
  • possession or ability to obtain a current food handler's permit
  • valid Oregon driver's license or ability to obtain one
  • commitment to regular attendance
  • successful completion of background check
  • physical ability to stand, walk, talk, hear, handle, grasp, reach, bend, stoop, and lift up to 30 pounds
  • ability to work in noisy environments with frequent interruptions
  • willingness to deliver meals to homebound seniors involving travel
  • readiness to encounter public with potential exposure to hostile behavior or contagious diseases

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or GED
  • two years of community service experience including supervising others
  • six months food handling experience
  • good interpersonal skills including listening and communication
  • ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • knowledge of client confidentiality and mandatory reporting rules
  • organizational skills
  • basic technology skills such as email and word processing
  • ability to interact effectively with elderly people and volunteers
  • arithmetic skills for financial accounting
  • familiarity with local elderly population and community resources

Job Duties

  • Coordinate activities during nutrition site operation
  • receive, hold, and serve food following health and sanitation procedures
  • deliver meals to homebound seniors as needed
  • recruit, schedule, train, and supervise volunteers
  • handle cash, complete bank deposit slips, make deposits, and record transactions
  • prepare and submit monthly meal site records
  • provide program information and organize outreach activities
  • plan and coordinate special events at the meal site
  • maintain and share information according to privacy regulations
  • serve as mandatory reporter for suspected abuse
