Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- some experience in food service operations
- ability to stand or walk for extended periods
- dexterity to operate kitchen equipment
- ability to lift, carry, push or pull heavy items
- willingness to learn and utilize computer software
- valid California driver’s license may be required
- obtain County Health Services Approved Food Handler Certificate if hired after February 1, 2004
Job Qualifications

- some experience in food service operations
- knowledge of standard kitchen equipment and utensils
- understanding of sanitation practices
- ability to operate food service computer software
- strong interpersonal skills including tact and patience
- ability to follow oral and written instructions
- ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
Job Duties
- Prepare food service facilities for serving food
- wash and prepare eating and serving areas
- count and set out trays
- set out food and beverages according to procedures
- maintain snack and salad bar and replace condiments
- portion and serve food to students and staff
- assist in food preparation such as making sandwiches, grating cheese, mixing and chopping fruits and vegetables
- assist in baking cookies, breads and cakes
- operate dishwasher and sanitize trays, plates, utensils and equipment
- assist in setting up and stocking food preparation and service lines
- maintain clean, sanitary and safe food storage and work areas
- wash and clean counters, tables, pots, trays and kitchen equipment
- perform cashiering duties including handling money and counting meals served
- transport food and lift heavy containers
- utilize food service software to record information
- cook and bake foods
- serve as Cafeteria Manager in their absence
- perform related duties as assigned
