Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • some experience in food service operations
  • ability to stand or walk for extended periods
  • dexterity to operate kitchen equipment
  • ability to lift, carry, push or pull heavy items
  • willingness to learn and utilize computer software
  • valid California driver’s license may be required
  • obtain County Health Services Approved Food Handler Certificate if hired after February 1, 2004

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • some experience in food service operations
  • knowledge of standard kitchen equipment and utensils
  • understanding of sanitation practices
  • ability to operate food service computer software
  • strong interpersonal skills including tact and patience
  • ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • ability to work cooperatively in a team environment

Job Duties

  • Prepare food service facilities for serving food
  • wash and prepare eating and serving areas
  • count and set out trays
  • set out food and beverages according to procedures
  • maintain snack and salad bar and replace condiments
  • portion and serve food to students and staff
  • assist in food preparation such as making sandwiches, grating cheese, mixing and chopping fruits and vegetables
  • assist in baking cookies, breads and cakes
  • operate dishwasher and sanitize trays, plates, utensils and equipment
  • assist in setting up and stocking food preparation and service lines
  • maintain clean, sanitary and safe food storage and work areas
  • wash and clean counters, tables, pots, trays and kitchen equipment
  • perform cashiering duties including handling money and counting meals served
  • transport food and lift heavy containers
  • utilize food service software to record information
  • cook and bake foods
  • serve as Cafeteria Manager in their absence
  • perform related duties as assigned
