Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- attendance at orientation and training session
- completion of required district and state credentialing requirements including background check and fingerprinting
- physical ability to frequently sit, walk, stand, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds
- vocal communication skills
- hearing ability to perceive normal spoken words
- visual acuity for preparing and analyzing data
- ability to occasionally work in conditions below 32 degrees
- willingness to have daily personal and close contact with children
- capacity for regular contact with other staff members and building administrators on assigned substitute days
Job Qualifications
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED
- ability to follow oral and written directions
- proven capability to work cohesively with peers, supervisors, school personnel, and students
- knowledge of cleanliness, sanitation, and hygiene standards
- competence in operating kitchen equipment such as stoves, ovens, and mixers
- ability to apply safe food handling practices
- maintenance of a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality in dealing with sensitive information
- ability to work with frequent interruptions
Job Duties
- Perform all duties assigned by the head cook or school administration in the selection, preparation, and serving of food
- set up and merchandise food and food service areas
- serve appropriate quantities of food items to meet federal and school guidelines
- serve children with a positive attitude
- report any equipment needing repair to the food service manager
- report accidents to the food service manager immediately
- maintain a clean and safe food service environment
- perform sanitation duties to ensure that all equipment is thoroughly cleaned according to state regulations
- assist with the accurate keeping of records and ordering of supplies
- store, utilize, and dispose of food and supplies following federal, state, local, and district regulations
- run a cash register as needed
- perform other duties as directed by the school administration or ESS
