Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Physical exam and background checks required
  • Ability to adhere to health and safety standards
  • Availability to work on call
  • Ability to follow USDA and CACFP guidelines
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Ability to lift and carry kitchen supplies and equipment

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • ServSafe Certification preferred
  • Prior experience in food service or meal preparation preferred
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations
  • Ability to follow USDA and CACFP guidelines
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment

Job Duties

  • Prepares and serves family-style meals for children, volunteers, and staff ensuring delivery to each classroom
  • Delivers food at the proper temperature and in the correct amounts ordered
  • Stores food and supplies properly, including dating all items using FIFO inventory method
  • Washes and stores dishes and maintains kitchen equipment
  • Cleans and sanitizes food transport carriers daily and maintains kitchen cleanliness
  • Ensures disposal of garbage each school day
  • Tracks food allergies and concerns and ensures correct substitution for children with documented allergies
  • Completes Food Substitution Log for special diet substitutions
  • Performs physical inventory of equipment and supplies
  • Makes attendance and weekly worksheets available for review
  • Maintains and updates daily and monthly records
  • Maintains safety of environment for staff and children
  • Participates in meetings, events, and training as required
