Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Knowledge of cleaning agents and safety precautions
Knowledge of cleaning equipment such as mops, brooms, vacuum cleaners, power scrubbers, polishers and buffers
Ability to maintain professional relationships with students, faculty, and administration
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions

Job Duties

Maintain the general cleanliness of all buildings, grounds, and equipment located on school property
Perform major cleaning tasks such as wet-mopping, sweeping, dusting, emptying trash including lifting waste paper and debris up to 55 lbs
Clean marker boards and disinfect drinking fountains
Clean and disinfect restrooms including floors and all fixtures
Wash windows, window sills, glass doors, walls, and blinds as needed
Perform special janitorial duties beyond routine tasks
Replace light bulbs climbing ladders up to 16 feet, fill dispensers, setup facilities for use including lifting furniture and cafeteria tables up to 55 lbs
Follow written and verbal instructions
Make minor building repairs and report major ones
Ensure doors and windows are appropriately locked and lights turned off
Walk up and down stairs frequently, bend and stand as needed
Maintain and clean industrial janitorial equipment
Assist in major clean-up during summer including washing desks and chairs, stripping and waxing floors
Replenish restroom supplies
Empty and clean trash containers inside and outside
Strip, seal, wax, and buff floors as scheduled
Check and clean yard drains weekly
Operate heating and cooling systems and thermostats as directed
Maintain boiler room and supply closets
Perform mandated inspections and enter work orders into operations system
Maintain grounds including removing trash, landscaping, weeding, and trimming
Secure all windows and doors daily
Remove ice and snow from walks and entries as needed
Flush all flush valves weekly in summer
Ensure building is alarmed as needed
Be available for occasional emergencies
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
