- knowledge of modern cleaning methods and materials
- ability to operate custodial equipment safely

Job Duties
- Clean classrooms, offices and other facilities during assigned shifts
- sweep, mop, wax and polish floors
- vacuum rugs and carpets
- remove gum and candy from floors
- spot clean and shampoo carpets
- assure security of school during assigned hours
- lock gates, doors and windows
- turn off lights when rooms are not in use
- monitor facilities for fire hazards and report as required
- dust and polish furniture, light fixtures and woodwork
- clean chalkboards, trays and erasers
- empty pencil sharpeners
- empty and clean waste receptacles
- refill dispensers
- clean, scrub and disinfect restrooms
- wash windows and walls
- polish metal work
- clean sinks, mirrors and bathroom fixtures
- restock paper supplies and soap
- clean drinking fountains
- adjust and arrange furniture and equipment
- set up facilities for special events and meetings
- provide support to staff related to equipment and supplies
- perform minor maintenance and repairs
- remove graffiti
- operate and maintain custodial equipment
- assist in monitoring campus to maintain order and security
- observe students during passing periods
- maintain positive relationships with students and staff
- raise or lower flags
- report safety and sanitary hazards
- disassemble and clean filtration hood systems
- pick up debris from grounds and buildings
- clean ventilation ducts
- participate in thorough cleaning and restoration during school vacations
- perform related duties as assigned
