Job Requirements
- Any combination of training and experience providing required knowledge and abilities
- One year of experience in food preparation and service preferred
- Serve Safe Certification if necessary
- Stand for extended periods
- Frequent pushing, pulling, twisting at the waist
- Neck flexion and rotation
- Reaching above and below the shoulders
- Occasional bending, kneeling, squatting, and stooping
- Frequent lifting/pushing/pulling/carrying objects between 25-50 lbs
- Ability to handle hot materials and temperature extremes
- Hand coordination to use utensils and equipment
- Hear, speak, write, and read in English
- Perform mathematical calculations from memory or using a device
- Current TB clearance
- Live Scan background check paid by applicant
- District paid pre-placement physical authorized if selected
- Testing with Food Services Department

Job Qualifications
- Knowledge of modern methods of preparing and serving large quantity foods
- Ability to use and care for institutional kitchen equipment and utensils
- Understanding of proper cleaning and sanitizing methods and kitchen safety principles
- Basic arithmetic for recipe conversions
- Ability to prepare and serve a wide variety of foods efficiently
- Ability to follow written recipes and oral instructions
- Ability to convert recipes for food production needs
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment
- Ability to collect money, make change, and assist in preparing deposits
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships
- Computer operating skills
- One year of experience in food preparation and service preferred
- Serve Safe Certification if necessary
Job Duties
- Prepare or assist in the preparation of daily meal components following standardized recipes
- Set up and serve meals and beverages
- Properly store or dispose of excess food
- Accept money, tickets, or tokens for foods and beverages served
- Wash, sanitize, and store dishes, tableware, and kitchen utensils
- Clean counters, tables, chairs, and mop floors
- Operate and clean kitchen equipment as assigned
- Assist in taking inventory of food and supplies
- Assume duties of a Cook Manager during absences when assigned
- Work on a computer
- Attend District Food Service meetings and in-service workshops
- Perform other related duties as assigned
