Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in recreation, sports management, or related field
  • 1-2 years of experience in recreation facility or aquatics management
  • current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
  • strong interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills
  • knowledge of pool maintenance and risk management practices
  • ability to support budget planning and financial tracking
  • effective communication and supervisory skills
  • willingness to undergo Level 1 or Level 2 criminal background check
  • ability to work collaboratively in a diverse university environment
  • must comply with safety certification and training requirements

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Sports Management, or related field
  • minimum 1-2 years experience in recreation facility or aquatics management
  • current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
  • strong interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills
  • knowledge of pool maintenance and risk management practices
  • preferred master's degree in Higher Education, Recreation, Sports Management, or related field
  • current American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Certification
  • current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification
  • current American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Trainer
  • Certified Pool Operator or Aquatic Facility Operator certification
  • experience with facility scheduling software
  • experience managing multi-use indoor and outdoor spaces

Job Duties

  • Designing and delivering safety certification courses such as CPR, AED, First Aid, Lifeguarding, and Swim Lessons
  • evaluating program offerings regularly using participant feedback and industry standards
  • developing and enforcing facility policies and procedures for safety and efficiency
  • assisting with routine pool and facility maintenance including water quality monitoring and adjustments
  • coordinating facility and equipment reservations for internal and external groups
  • managing scheduling software and supporting sustainable initiatives like the Bike Checkout Program
  • recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating lifeguards, aquatics personnel, and student employees
  • overseeing safety protocols for daily operations and special events
  • managing employee certification records and conducting audits
  • assisting with budget planning, processing rental invoices, and managing payments in collaboration with the Assistant Director
