Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working in food service or nutrition
  • Ability to follow government regulations and safety standards
  • Willingness to complete required certification courses
  • Ability to work 8 hours per day Monday through Friday
  • Ability to lift 31-50 lbs
  • Commitment to punctual attendance
  • Ability to work in physically demanding positions
  • Valid MN Food Manager's Certificate
  • Basic computer skills or willingness to learn

Job Qualifications

  • Experience in a public school kitchen and/or background in related food service operations
  • Knowledge of government guidelines and procedures concerning sanitation and safety
  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must have completed or be willing to enroll and complete the Sanitation and Safety and the School Nutrition Programs courses for Minnesota School Food Services Certification
  • Computer skills and experience or willing to learn
  • Regular, on-time attendance is required
  • Stooping, bending, occasional awkward positions may be necessary to perform essential functions of the position
  • Must be able to lift 31-50 lbs
  • MN Food Manager's Certificate required
  • SNA Level 4 (preferred)

Job Duties

  • Direct and participate in meal preparation and daily meal service
  • Ensure correct portions are served by adhering to production records and standardized recipes
  • Assist with set up of serving lines
  • Complete daily production records for breakfast/lunch/snacks
  • Ensure all Federal and State government regulations are adhered to
  • Ensure that students with special diet accommodations receive the correct meals
  • Train new staff members and monitor performance
