Job Requirements

  • Must currently hold an active MN CFPM certificate or be able to successfully pass a food safety exam to acquire the Minnesota Food Protection Manager certification
  • Experience in a public school kitchen and/or background in related food service operations
  • Knowledge of government guidelines and procedures concerning sanitation and safety
  • Must have completed or be willing to enroll and complete the SNS required training courses
  • Regular, on-time attendance is required
  • Must be able to lift 31-50 lbs
  • Stooping, bending, occasional awkward positions may be necessary to perform essential functions of the position

Job Qualifications

  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must have completed or be willing to enroll and complete the SNS required training courses: Safety and Sanitation & the School Nutrition Programs course
  • Computer skills and experience or willing to learn
  • Regular, on-time attendance is required

  • Must be able to lift 31-50 lbs

Job Duties

  • Actively participate in a mentorship program to prepare for an elementary lead role in SNS
  • Willingness to be coached by colleagues to become proficient in the lead job responsibilities as they relate to management of production, inventory, ordering, food safety, point of sale systems and reporting
  • Develop professional leadership abilities including communication, conflict resolution and supervisory skills to effectively guide and support a team
  • Assist in food preparation as assigned and set up food serving lines
  • Serve food in the correct portions by adhering to the production records and standardized recipes
  • Assist in clean up
  • Perform Point of Sale (POS) procedures as assigned
  • Adhere to District's HACCP (Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points) plan
  • Wash, sanitize and store kitchen equipment and utensils according to USDA and local guidelines
  • Support and promote the meal programs offered at the site
  • Position involves handling a number of food allergens and a variety of meat products
  • Perform other tasks within the level of responsibilities indicated above as assigned by the supervisor
