Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in food service or related field preferred
  • Completion or willingness to complete sanitation and safety certification courses
  • Ability to handle food allergens and meat products safely
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to follow safety and sanitation protocols
  • Availability to work Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  • Physical ability to perform duties including lifting 31-50 lbs
  • Regular and punctual attendance

Job Qualifications

  • Experience in a public school kitchen and/or background in related food service operations
  • Knowledge of government guidelines and procedures concerning sanitation and safety
  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must have completed or be willing to enroll and complete the Sanitation and Safety and the School Nutrition Programs courses for Minnesota School Food Services Certification
  • Computer skills and experience or willing to learn
  • Regular, on-time attendance is required
  • Ability to stoop, bend, and occasionally assume awkward positions
  • Must be able to lift 31-50 lbs

Job Duties

  • Assist in food preparation as assigned and set up food serving lines
  • Position involves handling a number of food allergens and a variety of meat products
  • Serve food in the correct portions by adhering to the production records and standardized recipes
  • Assist in clean up
  • Perform Point of Sale (POS) procedures as assigned
  • Adhere to District's HACCP (Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points) plan
  • Wash, sanitize and store kitchen equipment and utensils according to USDA and local guidelines
  • Support and promote the meal programs offered at the site
  • Perform other tasks within the level of responsibilities indicated above as assigned by supervisor
