Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior cooking or kitchen experience preferred
  • Food safety certification or willingness to obtain certification
  • Ability to stand and walk throughout entire shift
  • Ability to lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds multiple times per shift
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to follow detailed recipe instructions
  • Commitment to maintaining safety and sanitation standards
  • Physical capability to work in a hot and damp kitchen environment
  • Ability to operate kitchen machinery safely

Job Qualifications

  • Able to work flexible shift schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Able to physically stand and walk 100 percent of shift
  • Ability to reach, bend, and stoop
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English
  • Able to read recipes and food labels
  • Able to read POS ticket orders
  • Ability to communicate ticket times, execute food flow from kitchen to guests, and report potential issues to manager on duty
  • Able to safely use kitchen machinery such as open flame grill, stove, slicer
  • Ability to work safely with hot plates, pots, pans
  • Ability to work safely with sharp knives and utensils
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds several times per shift and lift heavy loads to high shelves, coolers, freezers
  • Ability to hold items weighing up to 5 pounds for long periods of time
  • Able to work in high temperature and damp environment indoors and minimally outdoors
  • Willingness to assist fellow employees with dishwashing and cleaning as needed
  • Ability to complete and pass food safety certification program in compliance with Flanigan's and Florida statutes

Job Duties

  • Follow all company safety and sanitation policies and procedural training
  • Prepare menu items according to Flanigan's company recipe manual and plate presentation
  • Ensure rotation of all products and stock products to par level to ensure kitchen is not disrupted
  • Help complete assigned prep work to stock and set up stations as necessary
  • Transport items to and from kitchen and help vendor unload delivery trucks
  • Clean and maintain kitchen area throughout shift
  • Break down and clean all stations at closing
