Job Requirements
- valid Oklahoma Department of Transportation physical examination certification
- pass department of transportation physical examination including drug screen
- regularly sit and stand for extended periods
- able to walk on uneven surfaces up to half a mile
- maintain balance while train is in motion
- follow verbal commands and be aware of surroundings
- work in confined access spaces with limited width
- adapt to temperature extremes such as heat, cold, moisture, and wind
- regularly push and pull up to 25 pounds
- ascend and descend platforms up to 18 inches high
- tolerate repetitive movements including bending and overhead reaching
- pass color vision and auditory signal examinations
- work in safety-sensitive environment
- comply with federal transit administration regulations on drug and alcohol testing
Job Qualifications
- high school diploma or GED
- rail transit operator experience considered a plus
- valid driver’s license with good driving record for past 5 years
- must be 21 years of age or older
- ability to read, write, and communicate proficiently in English
- ability to obtain and maintain streetcar operation certification
- successfully complete and maintain required safety certification and annual testing
Job Duties
- operate the streetcar safely and efficiently within established rules, schedules, and procedures
- provide professional and courteous customer service
- report for duty in prescribed uniform with neat and well-groomed appearance
- work late nights, weekends, and holidays as required
- be available on an on-call basis when necessary
- complete training programs for operating rules, safety, and vehicle operations
- assist maintenance and manufacturers with streetcar movement and testing
- act as incident commander until relieved
- inform dispatchers or route supervisors of equipment status and defects
- perform pre-departure inspections and report operational hazards
- observe and report defects along the route and alignment
- receive and transmit messages via onboard or handheld systems
- prepare trip and defect reports upon duty completion
- maintain regular and predictable attendance and punctuality
- perform other duties as assigned
