Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Post-secondary business school training preferred
  • Five or more years of retail store experience preferred
  • One to two years as a store manager or similar role in retail grocery or equivalent
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 55 pounds, frequent walking, bending, and standing
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for travel
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to comply with federal, state, and company policies and procedures

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret operating statements and identify corrective actions
  • Knowledge of cash, facility, and safety control policies and practices
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, health regulations, safety rules, and procedures manuals
  • Ability to perform cash register functions to generate reports
  • Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling, and termination practices
  • Knowledge of local and state food handling certifications and requirements
  • Basic knowledge of personal and network computer systems
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations
  • Knowledge of cash handling procedures
  • Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices
  • Knowledge of food handling, safety, and sanitation regulations
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
  • Ability to interface respectfully with staff, suppliers, and customers
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to solve operational problems
  • Ability to obtain required food handling management certifications
  • Preference for bilingual Spanish speakers at certain locations

Job Duties

  • Review operating statements to identify the store's business trends including sales, profitability, and expense control opportunities
  • Review ad/planner ordering plans
  • Review perishable and food ordering processes to maximize sales and minimize markdowns
  • Ensure the store meets or exceeds in-stock targets
  • Validate (Find - Fill - Fix) processes and 7 day work flow
  • Facilitate efficient staging, stocking, and storage of merchandise
  • Ensure all merchandise is presented according to established practices and plans using appropriate fixtures, product pricing, and signage
