Job Requirements

  • Meet specialized experience and education combinations as per GS level by announcement closing date
  • Demonstrate knowledge of retail procurement and distribution methods and retail food merchandising principles
  • Lift up to 40 pounds unassisted and occasionally over 40 pounds with assistance
  • Stand, stoop, kneel, bend, and climb for prolonged periods
  • Meet time-in-grade requirements applicable to respective GS levels
  • Verify at least 90 days of federal civilian service if applicable
  • Provide transcripts if relying on education for qualification
  • Submit foreign education equivalency if applicable
  • Attest physical ability in the application questionnaire

Job Qualifications

  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 grade level for GS-9
  • Master's degree or equivalent graduate education in business administration, public administration, agricultural economics, or related fields for GS-9
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-8 grade level for GS-10
  • Two and one-half years of graduate level education for GS-10
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 grade level for GS-11
  • Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or three years of graduate level education for GS-11
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level for GS-12

Job Duties

  • Plan, direct, coordinate, and control the diverse day-to-day retail operations of a commissary
  • Manage inventory procurement and distribution methods effectively
  • Supervise and lead commissary staff to ensure efficient operations
  • Develop and apply policies, procedures, and operating standards for commissary management
  • Provide technical advice on merchandising and operational matters related to grocery, meats, and produce supplies
  • Ensure compliance with federal regulations and standards
  • Attest to physical capability requirements necessary for the role
