Job Requirements
- Meet time-in-grade and time after competitive appointment requirements by announcement closing date
- specialized experience relevant to the grade level applied for
- physical ability to lift, push, and carry commissary products weighing up to 40 pounds and occasionally over 40 pounds with assistance
- stand, stoop, kneel, bend, and climb for prolonged periods
- submit transcripts if relying on education to qualify
- meet federal service requirements for GS promotion
- respond to competency questions on commissary operations, interpersonal skills, and supervision
- follow application instructions carefully
- foreign education equivalency documentation if applicable
Job Qualifications
- One year of specialized experience equivalent to the minimum required GS grade level
- master’s or equivalent graduate degree in business administration, public administration, agricultural economics, or related field for certain grade levels
- progressively higher graduate education for advanced grades
- demonstrated knowledge of retail procurement and distribution methods
- experience managing retail food store operations
- ability to develop and apply store policies
- strong supervisory skills
- effective interpersonal communication
- physical ability to perform duties involving lifting and prolonged standing
Job Duties
- Plan, direct, coordinate, and control day-to-day commissary retail operations
- manage procurement and distribution methods for retail food merchandising
- develop, interpret, and apply policies and operating standards
- provide technical advice on merchandising and operational matters
- supervise and lead store staff
- ensure compliance with safety, sanitation, and federal regulations
- oversee inventory control and product quality
