Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • three or more years of management experience
  • proficiency in business and finance acumen
  • excellent communication and computer skills
  • valid driver’s license
  • ability to demonstrate strong customer service and instructional skills
  • keen interest in animals
  • ability to perform physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, moving merchandise up to 50 pounds, and standing for long periods
  • willingness to travel occasionally
  • commitment to safety procedures and policies
  • ability to manage a diverse team
  • capability to analyze financial and operational data
  • dedication to promote team culture and inclusion

Job Duties

  • Build a team that embodies the Petco brand by delivering exceptional service and driving guest loyalty
  • attract, hire, and retain a diverse team of top talent
  • train, coach, and develop leaders and hourly Pet Care Center partners
  • create a professional environment that inspires partner growth and engagement
  • lead a positive culture of teamwork, inclusion, and collaboration
  • ensure quick and courteous service by sharing product knowledge
  • manage all partner performance in the Pet Care Center
  • meet or exceed goals related to sales, profitability, and operational excellence
  • schedule and adjust labor hours and payroll to maximize productivity
  • review financial and operational reports to identify and improve underperforming metrics
  • market the Pet Care Center and oversee community events
  • ensure the health, appearance, welfare, and proper handling of all animals
  • maintain proper pricing, merchandising, and inventory control
  • complete accounting, inventory management, and payroll paperwork on time
  • uphold Petco operational standards and safety procedures
  • protect pets and merchandise by enforcing loss prevention
  • maintain the Pet Care Center's professional image and cleanliness
  • model inspiring leadership behaviors
  • promote safety policies and procedures
  • foster a culture encouraging efficiency and guest engagement
