Job Requirements

  • Minimum five years of leadership experience in retail food environment
  • Minimum two years as total store leader preferred
  • Successful experience as Metropolitan Market Assistant Store Director for internal candidates
  • Strong professional judgment and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work flexible schedule including mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Must have valid Washington State Food Workers Card
  • Ability to handle ambiguity and fast-changing situations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork
  • Experience with supermarket financial statement and profit/loss control
  • High motivation and initiative
  • Excellent delegation and follow-through abilities

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum five years of leadership experience in high-volume, guest service focused retail food environment
  • Proven track record of managing profit and loss at department or store level
  • Strong judgment and decision-making skills
  • Ability to lead and develop teams effectively
  • Knowledge of grocery store operations and industry standards
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • Experience in handling employee relations
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing environments
  • Commitment to company culture and values

Job Duties

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to Assistant Store Director, Store Administration Director, Store Team Leader, and Department Team Leaders
  • Lead recruiting and hiring efforts to fill store positions with qualified individuals
  • Develop in-store talent through career-pathing and professional development
  • Oversee employee relations including coaching, counseling, and corrective action
  • Create and promote a culture of safety
  • Manage operational issues to mitigate risks and ensure positive outcomes
  • Monitor and achieve store financial targets including sales, labor, gross profit, and shrink
  • Enhance guest experience by developing innovative programs
  • Train and develop Assistant Store Director in merchandising, guest satisfaction, and store conditions
  • Assess retail sales floor conditions and maintain merchandising standards
  • Ensure store compliance with company policies, legal and regulatory requirements
