Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • prior experience in retail or deli management preferred
  • excellent communication and leadership abilities
  • ability to pass ServSafe certification exam unless waived
  • valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • ability to work flexible schedules including weekends and holidays
  • capability to perform physical tasks related to deli operations
  • strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Job Duties

  • assist the store manager in supervisory decisions that are consistent with Town Pump standards, policies, and procedures
  • assist in planning, leadership, organization, and follow-up with controllable expenses, sales expenses, sales increases, food costs, and shortage controls
  • set an exemplary example for co-workers in terms of professionalism, attitude, and teamwork in the areas of customer service and convenience store operations
  • conduct new employee orientation and training
  • promote continued development of all employees and objectively document performance and conduct evaluations
  • conduct daily walk-throughs
  • effectively prioritize, organize, delegate, and follow-up on tasks to be accomplished
  • maintain accurate inventories, order, and maintain deli merchandise, and achieve favorable deli metrics
  • conduct maintenance in the deli area, including basic preventative maintenance and repairs of deli equipment
  • follow all sanitation procedures, and maintain the highest quality standards in food preparation
  • prepare deli items and cook heated items as required
  • promote kitchen and store safety
  • check in deli vendors, cross-check orders, and check items by line number
  • put away the order once received, and watch for miss-picks, wrong pack sizes, and broken/open merchandise
  • maintain PLUs, and print list for tills
  • keep product rotated and fresh, and check expiration dates
  • remove and discard unauthorized products
  • be required to complete and pass ServSafe certification, and have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
