Silver Sage Trading is the retail arm of the High Desert Museum located just south of Bend, Oregon, set within a serene Ponderosa pine forest. Founded in 1982, the High Desert Museum is a respected interdisciplinary cultural institution recognized for sharing the stories and diverse wonders of the High Desert region, spanning 11 states in the Intermountain West. Job Requirements
- availability to work 21 hours per week, primarily Tuesday through Thursday
- ability to operate POS systems accurately
- friendly and approachable demeanor
- attention to detail and organization skills
- ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting
- commitment to providing excellent visitor service
- ability to stand and move throughout the store for extended periods
Job Qualifications
- high school diploma or equivalent preferred
- prior retail or customer service experience desired
- strong communication and interpersonal skills
- ability to learn quickly and adapt to museum environment
- passion for customer service and visitor engagement
- willingness to work part-time hours including Tuesdays through Thursdays
- basic proficiency with point of sale systems
Job Duties
- run the point of sale (POS) accurately and efficiently
- create excellent visitor experiences by providing friendly and knowledgeable service
- maintain the store in a clean, organized, and well-stocked condition
- answer visitor questions about the Museum and its amenities
- collaborate closely with Retail Leads, other Associates, and Store Manager
- support and supervise volunteers in the store
- contribute to a positive and welcoming team environment
