Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • minimum 3 years supervisory experience in hotel stewarding
  • valid Food Handlers and SERV Safe certification upon hire
  • ability to work flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • strong communication and leadership abilities
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation
  • capability to lift up to 50 lbs safely
  • proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
  • commitment to safety guidelines
  • physical ability to walk, stand, sit for up to 9.5 hours per day
  • comfortable using and instructing the use of cleaning chemicals
  • occasionally required to climb and use balance
  • teamwork oriented
  • detail conscious in maintaining cleanliness and organization

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a hotel stewarding department
  • experience at a comparable AAA Four Diamond or Four Star hotel or resort preferred
  • knowledge of food safety, sanitation, food products, and food service equipment
  • strong communication and leadership skills
  • advanced organizational skills
  • bilingual in Spanish is a plus
  • valid Food Handlers and SERV Safe certification required upon hire
  • strong computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • ability to work flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Job Duties

  • Train and supervise fellow team members in a professional manner with fairness
  • check all kitchens for cleanliness daily
  • check all paper towel dispensers and soap dispensers ensuring they are full
  • work with fellow stewards on the dish machine and assist them as needed
  • check loading dock for cleanliness and equipment organization daily and clean if necessary
  • check all hotboxes and speed racks periodically for cleanliness and clean or assign cleaning as needed
  • ensure all stewards are actively working and productive except during scheduled breaks
  • inspect and verify completion of all stewards' work areas for cleanliness and organization at shift end
  • maintain professional conduct and lead by example
  • adhere to and actively practice the hotel’s safety guidelines
  • instruct and ensure proper use of kitchen chemicals by staff
  • requisition china, glass, and silverware over 50 pieces to appropriate event orders daily
  • set up plated lunches and dinners for banquet kitchen and pastry shop as needed
  • provide banquet chef with required hotboxes, speed racks, and equipment for daily functions
  • assign stewards to appropriate workstations and schedule tasks
  • periodically organize and straighten storeroom ensuring proper placement of items
  • close kitchens nightly ensuring banquet and outlet kitchens are cleaned, organized, and properly shut down
