Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Minimum of 6 months to 1 year previous experience in back-of-the-house food-service position preferred
  • High school education is desired
  • Participation or enrollment in a culinary program preferred
  • Familiarity and experience with knife handling preferred
  • Ability to stand and walk for entire length of shift
  • Ability to lift and carry large pans weighing up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to handle or operate dangerous kitchen equipment safely
  • Ability to move rapidly and coordinate multiple orders
  • Physical capability to reach, bend, twist, squat, push and pull as required during shift

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6 months to 1 year previous experience in back-of-the-house food-service position preferred
  • High school education is desired
  • Participation or enrollment in a culinary program preferred
  • Familiarity and experience with knife handling preferred
  • Ability to work in fast-paced kitchen environments
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to supervise and motivate a team under the direction of the Sous Chef

Job Duties

  • Aid in the supervision and observation of performance for the dishwashers and porters under the direction of the Sous Chef
  • Ensure food items and kitchen utensils are prepared according to Delaware North standards of quality, consistency and timelines
  • Maintain and enforce sanitation procedures and organization of work area
  • Utilize and sanitize kitchen equipment such as knives, slicers, whisks, pots, pans, warmers, steamers, grills, ovens
  • Ensure proper food temperatures are maintained and food is stored correctly
  • Perform opening, closing and side work duties as instructed and according to proper guidelines
  • Ensure workstation and equipment is clean, organized, sanitized, and sufficiently stocked
  • Meet all health department standards for safe food handling and operate equipment safely determined by position and OSHA regulations
