Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent
  • minimum 2 years of stewarding experience
  • 1-2 years in a supervisory or similar role
  • basic command of the English language
  • ability to follow cleaning schedules and health protocols
  • effective communication skills
  • physical ability to undertake cleaning and kitchen support tasks
  • availability for day and evening shifts
  • commitment to safety and hygiene standards

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent
  • 1-2 years in a similar role
  • 2 years experience in stewarding
  • basic command of the English language
  • previous hotel experience helpful

Job Duties

  • Directs staff in maintaining cleanliness of back of the house areas including main kitchen, storage areas, dumpster, loading dock, employees cafeteria, and ware washing areas
  • manages general cleaning schedule to meet or exceed health inspection requirements
  • schedules purchases of stewarding equipment
  • supervises stewards ensuring high standards
  • coordinates daily pot-wash and dish wash responsibilities
  • selects, trains, schedules, supervises, and counsels stewarding staff
  • delegates dish and equipment washing and silver polishing activities
  • observes health, hygiene, and safety guidelines handling hazardous substances
  • controls equipment storage and issuance
  • reports equipment faults or damage
  • ensures correct PPE usage
  • ensures machinery is operated safely and efficiently
  • assists in equipment location, movement, and storage
  • assists in stock taking
  • ensures adherence to health, safety, and hygiene regulations
  • carries out tasks set by hotel management
  • assists executive steward with inventory and distribution of china, glassware, linen, and silver
  • coordinates stewarding services with other departments
  • participates in banquet food dish-up
  • replenishes food in buffet lines
  • responsible for deliveries to food and beverage outlets
  • communicates via oral and written communication including daily event orders and assignments
