Job Description

The Steward Supervisor position is a critical role within any hospitality, restaurant, or food service establishment, and it primarily focuses on overseeing the stewardship team responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards in kitchen and food and beverage work areas. This role is often found in hotels, upscale restaurants, banquet halls, or any establishment with a large kitchen operation. Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • minimum 2 years of relevant experience in stewarding or related field
  • proven supervisory experience
  • ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • ability to stand for extended periods
  • strong communication skills
  • knowledge of state and local health regulations

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • previous experience in stewarding or sanitation roles preferred
  • experience in a supervisory or team leader capacity
  • knowledge of health and safety regulations related to foodservice
  • strong leadership and communication skills
  • ability to train and motivate staff
  • familiarity with kitchen equipment and maintenance procedures

Job Duties

  • direct and supervise stewarding team efforts to maintain cleanliness and sanitation
  • assist and train stewards on proper cleaning techniques and procedures
  • ensure all kitchen and food and beverage equipment is clean and operational
  • oversee preparation and maintenance of kitchen equipment for following shifts
  • alert Executive Steward of equipment or operational issues promptly
  • provide guidance and motivation to stewarding team to meet performance and budget goals
  • handle disciplinary actions and ensure timely documentation
