Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • six months experience as a dishwasher, utility or steward at another restaurant or hotel
  • knowledge of safe chemical and equipment handling
  • ability to work with little or no supervision
  • operate equipment such as dishwasher, sprayer and kitchen equipment

  • understanding of MSDS sheets and sanitation program support

Job Duties

  • Promptly and carefully sort soiled ware for proper dish or pot machine processing
  • quickly wash all ware and replace in storage areas as designated
  • maintain dish areas and ensure dish machines function properly for washing table top items and kitchen pots and pans
  • have a thorough understanding of dish machine maintenance and operation for optimal use
  • clean and dry floors to avoid slip and fall accidents
  • clean, organize and maintain trash areas on an ongoing basis
  • clean, organize and maintain employees cafeteria
  • maintain and enforce sanitation laws and safety standards in kitchen areas
  • de-tarnish and polish silverware for proper appearance
  • label and store product deliveries as necessary
  • separate and organize garbage and recycling
  • set up and organize workstation with designated supplies and equipment and report shortages to supervisor
  • replenish supplies as needed
  • understand MSDS sheets and know the location of the book
  • support and participate in recycling and sanitation programs
  • watch for safety hazards and report them promptly to Department Supervisor
  • be available to work some PM shifts
