Job Description
Cardinal Point Captains, Inc. (CPC) is a respected maritime services company specializing in vessel management and operation. CPC is currently looking for a Steward Assistant to join the team aboard the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) research vessel, the R/V Lake Guardian. This vessel, designed for scientific research and survey operations, accommodates up to 42 people when fully loaded, with an average crew size typically between 20 and 30 individuals during operations. Job Duties
- assist in setting up dining areas for meals
- assist vessel cook in the preparation of meals
- clean galley and dining area after each meal
- clean and prepare crew cabins before and during voyages
- change bed linens, towels, and other cabin amenities as needed
- maintain cleanliness and order in public areas including lounges, corridors, and restrooms
- perform regular cleaning tasks such as vacuuming, dusting, mopping, and sanitizing surfaces
- assist in washing, drying, and folding linens and towels
- ensure timely and accurate delivery of laundered items to cabins and crew quarters
- operate and maintain laundry machines and equipment
- report any malfunctions or maintenance needs to the captain
- keep track of housekeeping and laundry supplies ensuring adequate stock levels
- replenish supplies in guest cabins and public areas as needed
- organize and maintain storage areas for cleaning supplies, linens, and other materials
- assist in receiving and storing inventory shipments
- work closely with other departments to ensure smooth operations and high service standards
- participate in ongoing training sessions to improve skills and knowledge of safety procedures
- participate in regular safety drills and adhere to all safety protocols and procedures
