Job Requirements

  • six months experience as a sterile processing technician
  • two continuing education courses within 12 months of hire
  • participation in a quality improvement project within 12 months of hire
  • current certification with the California Board of Sterile Processing or equivalent
  • current CPR certification
  • ability to communicate professionally with physicians, staff, and patients
  • ability to follow technical instructions and work in a fast paced environment
  • ability to read and interpret hazardous chemical statements and MSDS
  • ability to use computer software for inventory control and educational programs

Job Qualifications

  • six months experience as a sterile processing technician
  • current certification with the California Board of Sterile Processing or equivalent
  • current CPR certification
  • ability to communicate effectively and interact professionally
  • experience with quality improvement projects
  • knowledge of decontamination and sterilization methods
  • proficiency with computer software for inventory control

Job Duties

  • perform decontamination of surgical instruments and patient care equipment
  • package and sterilize instruments following established protocols
  • handle and store sterile supplies appropriately
  • maintain accurate documentation of sterilization processes
  • manage Surgical Case Cart supplies and equipment
  • assist with room turnovers and replenishment of stock
  • orient and train new sterile processing staff
