Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year experience in sterile processing functions preferred
  • Completion of class in basic anatomy and physiology and/or medical terminology
  • Current CPR certification
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong sense of responsibility and self-motivation
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to read and interpret hazardous chemical statements and MSDS
  • Capability to use computer software programs for inventory control and education

Job Qualifications

  • Completion of basic anatomy and physiology or medical terminology class
  • One year of experience in sterile processing functions preferred
  • Current CPR certification
  • Ability to communicate professionally with physicians, staff, patients, and the public
  • Knowledge of hazardous chemical statements and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
  • Proficiency in using computer software for inventory control

Job Duties

  • Perform decontamination, packaging, sterilization, handling, and storage of surgical instruments and patient care equipment
  • Maintain accurate documentation of sterile processing activities
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of the sterile processing department and surgery area
  • Assist with room set-ups and turnovers in perioperative suites
  • Stock and inventory supplies for sterile processing and surgical areas
  • Perform routine and terminal cleaning duties related to perioperative services
  • Orient and train new sterile processing employees
