Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year experience in sterile processing functions preferred
- Completion of class in basic anatomy and physiology and/or medical terminology
- Current CPR certification
- Ability to work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment
- Strong sense of responsibility and self-motivation
- Good communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret hazardous chemical statements and MSDS
- Capability to use computer software programs for inventory control and education
Job Qualifications
- Completion of basic anatomy and physiology or medical terminology class
- One year of experience in sterile processing functions preferred
- Current CPR certification
- Ability to communicate professionally with physicians, staff, patients, and the public
- Knowledge of hazardous chemical statements and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
- Proficiency in using computer software for inventory control
Job Duties
- Perform decontamination, packaging, sterilization, handling, and storage of surgical instruments and patient care equipment
- Maintain accurate documentation of sterile processing activities
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the sterile processing department and surgery area
- Assist with room set-ups and turnovers in perioperative suites
- Stock and inventory supplies for sterile processing and surgical areas
- Perform routine and terminal cleaning duties related to perioperative services
- Orient and train new sterile processing employees
