Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • At least six months previous experience in full service dining
  • Experience in upscale dining or steakhouse environment preferred
  • Knowledge of wines and liquor service techniques
  • Comfortable with self-banking
  • Team oriented
  • Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure
  • Sound judgment in guest relations
  • Familiarity with point-of-sale systems
  • Effective communication skills in English
  • Minimum age 21
  • Alcohol awareness certification
  • Health certification
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Able to stand or walk for extended periods
  • Dexterity to use tools or equipment
  • Good vision, hearing, and speaking abilities
  • Willingness to work in noisy, smoky, and variable temperature environment

Job Qualifications

  • At least six months previous experience working in a full service dining venue
  • Preferably an upscale dining or steakhouse environment
  • Experience providing high-touch guest service expected in an upscale room environment
  • Knowledge of wines and liquor and wine service techniques
  • Must be comfortable with self-banking
  • Must be team oriented
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and remain calm in a very high-paced, busy environment
  • Previous experience exercising sound judgment when dealing with difficult guest situations
  • Previous experience with point-of-sale systems, computers and calculators
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English, both written and verbal
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • At least 21 years of age

Job Duties

  • Greets the guest in an upbeat and positive manner
  • Enthusiastically demonstrates knowledge of wines by the glass to include variety, region and characteristics of the wine
  • Presents menus to guests and uses suggestive selling techniques to sell appetizers, soups, salads, entrees, specialty items and desserts
  • Enthusiastically demonstrates knowledge of menu items, including house specials, item descriptions, ingredients and preparation techniques
  • Offers wine pairings with a food selection
  • Takes beverage and food orders according to service standards
  • Serves and replenishes drinks in a timely manner, offers refills or new drink when the glass is approximately half full
  • Inputs orders accurately into POS system using the Universal Seating guidelines
  • Resolves guest complaints ensuring guest satisfaction and communicates situation to management
  • Provides outstanding guest service expected in an upscale dining outlet throughout the dining experience
  • Accepts payment for check from the guests, settles using approved method, and tenders change or receipts back to guest, ensuring all required signatures are obtained
  • Extends courteous departures as guests leave and invites them to return
  • Maintains knowledge of hotel services and local activities in order to respond to guest inquiries
  • Monitors and maintains cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas
  • Ensures all food is served within health, safety, and sanitation guidelines
  • Maintains knowledge and complies with all departmental policies, procedures, and service standard expectations
  • Assists other employees, when needed, in instances of food running, side work, drink orders
  • Performs other duties as assigned
