Job Duties

  • Provide exceptional customer service in a safe and clean environment
  • Treat customers and employees in a fair and ethical manner
  • Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated
  • Answer questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store
  • Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department
  • Respond to questions and make suggestions about products
  • Collaborate with associates and promote teamwork to achieve company and store goals
  • Prepare beverage selections to recipe and standards and to customer requests
  • Tender transactions using company best practices
  • Offer product samples to customers
  • Inform customers of coffee shop specials
  • Provide customers with fresh products and correct portion sizes
  • Recommend coffee shop items to customers
  • Use coffee shop equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, ovens, espresso machines, blenders, computerized scales, and steamers according to guidelines
  • Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise
  • Report product ordering and shipping discrepancies to the department manager
  • Check product quality and review 'sell by' dates
  • Reinforce safety programs by complying with procedures and identifying unsafe conditions
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
  • Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment
  • Notify management of accidents, safety risks, and illegal activities
  • Work cooperatively in a high-paced environment
  • Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational manner
  • Act with honesty and integrity
  • Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary
  • Provide support and assistance to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
