Job Description

Cal Poly Pomona Enterprises is a part of the California State Polytechnic University, Pomona Foundation, Inc., serving as the largest employer of students on the Cal Poly Pomona campus. This foundation provides valuable work experience and hands-on training to approximately 1,500 Cal Poly Pomona students annually. These student employees are engaged in various fields including technology, science, retail, culinary arts, hospitality management, leadership, and research grants. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 15 or more months of job-related experience
  • previous food service experience
  • food safety certification
  • ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • excellent customer service skills
  • satisfactory completion of training program(s)
  • ability to show competencies
  • understanding of all aspects of the job and responsibilities
  • ability to set the example and understand policies, procedures and guidelines

Job Duties

  • Perform a variety of tasks including general office duties, tutoring, washing dishes, waiting tables, cashiering, custodial duties, groundwork, and stocking
  • provide technical and people skills to work independently and as a team member
  • prepare documents and materials as necessary
  • deliver high levels of interactive customer service while handling confidential materials properly
  • assist with special projects
  • communicate regularly with direct supervisor regarding work status and task completions
  • assist with scheduling, assigning daily work, and overseeing task completion
  • assist in training and guiding staff on job duties, food safety, sanitation procedures, and customer service
  • prepare and build food items per standardized recipes
  • properly store food following food safety policies
  • set up and break down workstations including prep tables and service counters
  • clean and sanitize work areas
  • serve food ensuring guest satisfaction and anticipating customers’ needs
  • replenish food items to appropriate stock levels
  • maintain excellent customer service and positive attitude
  • adhere to safety policies and procedures
  • perform other assigned duties
