  • less than high school or equivalent experience
  • six months or less of similar or related work experience
  • ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions and deal with a few concrete variables
  • ability to do simple addition and subtraction copying figures counting and recording
  • ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions
  • ability to write identifying information and request supplies orally or in writing

Job Duties

  • provide prompt efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring concern and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store
  • smile and greet customers in a friendly manner whether the encounter takes place in the employees designated department or elsewhere in the store
  • make an effort to learn customers names and address them by name whenever possible
  • assist customers by escorting them to products securing products out of reach loading or unloading heavy items making note of and passing along customer suggestions or requests and performing other tasks to enhance the shopping experience
  • answer telephone promptly and provide friendly helpful service to customers who call including taking customer orders
  • take customer orders at the counter
  • work with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment
  • handle food in a safe manner and ensure the work area is always clean and neat
  • review status and appearance of food for freshness
  • ensure an adequate food supply is ready and on hand and develop or follow a production list
  • anticipate product needs for the department on a daily basis
  • prepare and replenish product as necessary
  • check in product put product away and review invoices
  • run the department registers and receive payment make change where applicable
  • remove trash in a timely manner
  • maintain strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress
  • adhere to company policies and individual store guidelines
  • report to work when scheduled and on time
