Job Requirements

- Expert level experience in case management in a substance abuse and or social crisis program
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance environment
- Familiarity with DOT/FAA drug and alcohol related regulations
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks with frequent interruptions
- Capability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
- Ability to use a computer and office productivity tools accurately and efficiently
- Must maintain well-groomed appearance according to company standards
- Must be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the U.S.
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Ability to comply with company attendance standards
- Willingness to be on call for 24-hour service including some holidays and weekends
- Ability to perform duties from limited space work station for extended periods

Job Duties
- Oversee FAA Human Intervention Motivation Study (HIMS) and pilot medical licensing programs
- Serve as company representative and intermediary to FAA Office of Aerospace Medicine and Aviation Regional and Local Medical Examiners for pilot medical licensing and HIMS
- Provide guidance on medical disqualification criteria, impacts, and personnel management for pilots
- Collaborate with physicians on program management, support, and treatment options
- Counsel Base Chief Pilots, Southwest Airlines Pilots Association (SWAPA), Company Drug and Alcohol Team, and pilots on medical, DUI, and licensing issues
- Manage pilot assessment, treatment, and return-to-work protocols
- Evaluate and negotiate contracts with HIMS treatment facilities nationwide
- Assist with direct pilot interventions and family rehabilitation support
- Act as subject matter expert for Employee Drug and Alcohol Treatment Plans for pilots
- Provide inter-carrier support and networking for drug and alcohol and HIMS issues
- Represent Flight Operations in SWA Drug and Alcohol Program including education and impact analysis
- Liaise with SWA Drug and Alcohol Team for Flight Operations employees
- Oversee medical issues related to pilot fitness for duty, medical licensing, and certification
- Monitor medical oversight for pilots on inactive status or medical leaves
- Support contract administration teams with benefit evaluations for leave of absence and long-term disability programs
- Evaluate and negotiate contracts with domestic and international medical service providers
- Coordinate medical issues with Base and NOC Chief Pilots
- Comply with physical ability and other job requirements as assigned
