Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in packaging engineering, chemical engineering, materials science, or related field
- 6-10 plus years of experience in packaging development, materials, or product engineering
- Experience in customer-facing technical and/or commercial roles
- Understanding of packaging materials and converting processes
- Familiarity with end-of-life and circularity systems and certification requirements
- Proficiency with ERP and product lifecycle management software
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field
- Advanced degree preferred
- 6-10 plus years of experience in packaging development, materials, or product engineering within foodservice, consumer goods, or industrial packaging
- Experience in customer-facing technical and/or commercial roles such as technical service, commercial innovation, or national account management
- Understanding of packaging materials, converting processes, and design-performance-cost modeling
- Familiarity with end-of-life and circularity systems including recycling, composting, reuse models, and related certifications
- Comfortable working with ERPs, product lifecycle management, and specification systems to embed circularity into product data
- Experience with thermoformed, rigid, flexible, or fiber-based packaging systems preferred
- Knowledge of US and Canadian recycling and composting infrastructure preferred
- Experience translating circularity insights into business cases and commercial decisions preferred
- Strong customer-centric communication and storytelling skills
- Ability to collaborate and influence cross-functionally
- Pragmatic problem-solving and organizational skills
Job Duties
- Support execution and continuous improvement of circularity roadmap across product categories
- Translate circularity principles into clear design rules and guardrails for product teams
- Develop, track and report on circularity KPIs and targets at enterprise and category levels
- Identify and prioritize scalable circularity initiatives and customer pilots
- Partner with Product Development and R&D to embed circularity into stage-gate processes and material selection
- Execute lifecycle assessments focusing on customer sustainable performance needs
- Provide technical leadership on certifications and labeling ensuring claims are substantiated and current
- Serve as a key technical partner to strategic customers translating circularity goals into feasible product options
- Support strategic customer engagement with technical feasibility, cost, risk, and performance analysis
- Collaborate with Commercial and Finance to develop business case inputs
- Partner with Government Affairs to align circularity strategies with policy trends and regulations
- Collaborate with recyclers, composters, suppliers, certification bodies, and industry coalitions to shape circularity pathways
- Support development and maintenance of circularity standards, playbooks, and guidance
- Design and implement processes for reviewing and validating circularity claims and product decisions
- Develop tools and training for consistent application of circularity principles across teams
