Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant area
  • Eight years of experience in government, aviation, transportation, international trade, or labor
  • Knowledge of Capitol Hill and legislative process
  • Aviation policy background preferred
  • Executive branch experience preferred
  • Strong strategic and critical thinking
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven collaborative teamwork ability
  • Adaptable and flexible
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with Teams, Microsoft Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in economics, political science, or relevant field
  • Master's degree in public policy, MBA, or Juris Doctor preferred
  • Eight or more years of experience in government, aviation, transportation, international trade, or labor
  • Strong knowledge of Capitol Hill and legislative process
  • Preferred experience in aviation policy
  • Executive branch experience especially White House, DOT, State, or OMB agencies
  • Proven ability in writing position papers and legislative proposals
  • Excellent interpersonal, advocacy, and oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Adaptability and problem-solving skills

Job Duties

  • Develop, analyze, and promote federal policy in line with ALPA member interests
  • Engage in direct lobbying with Capitol Hill and Administration officials
  • Draft legislative proposals and detailed issue papers
  • Represent ALPA at domestic and international governmental and industry forums
  • Provide strategic advice on legislation and legislative strategies
  • Collaborate with other departments on advocacy initiatives
  • Analyze legislation and regulatory developments relevant to aviation and labor policies
