Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • one to two years of environmental services experience in healthcare or institutional setting
  • working knowledge of industrial cleaning equipment
  • basic math proficiency
  • effective communication skills
  • ability to multitask and manage changing priorities
  • availability to work night shifts including weekends and holidays
  • ability to follow infection control protocols
  • must possess or obtain an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card if working in behavioral health clinical settings serving children
  • ability to complete assigned cleaning tasks despite interruptions
  • commitment to customer service and safe work practices

Job Qualifications

  • Skills, knowledge, and abilities typically gained from one to two years of diversified environmental service work experience in healthcare or institutional settings
  • working knowledge of industrial cleaning equipment and appropriate techniques
  • basic math skills
  • effective oral and written communication skills
  • ability to interpret and respond to instructions
  • multitasking ability under frequent interruptions
  • role model in customer service, safe work practices, and infection control
  • preferred computer skills
  • previous related experience with environmental services equipment and cleaning techniques
  • additional related education or experience

Job Duties

  • Respond promptly to all requests for cleaning services via tracking systems
  • conduct requested work including cleaning of equipment and furniture
  • maintain task and infection control logs
  • perform specialty cleaning in clinical and surgical areas
  • conduct specialized gowning and cleaning procedures in isolation rooms
  • maintain cleaning equipment and notify for repairs
  • assess environmental conditions for cleanliness and safety
  • exercise judgment to address safety issues or escalate as needed
  • provide leadership and training to less experienced associates
  • perform scheduled floor care including dust mopping, stripping, refinishing, buffing, and carpet extraction
  • calculate cleaning chemical quantities and mix ratios
  • work under supervision to serve internal and external customers
