Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • minimum three years of work experience preferred, or five years of industry experience in drawback, customs brokerage, brokerage operations, or CBP compliance and procedures
  • individual customs broker's license preferred
  • knowledge of CBP regulations and laws related to drawback, import entry requirements especially duty-free provisions, and NAFTA
  • understanding of import/export documentation, inventory management using FIFO and LIFO, bills of material, and manufacturing documentation
  • awareness of legislative changes affecting drawback and client impact
  • ability to prepare drawback ruling requests
  • experience in conducting audits and maintaining compliance
  • excellent organizational and communication skills

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • knowledge of all CBP regulations and laws pertaining to drawback, import entry requirements, and NAFTA
  • knowledge of import and export documentation, inventory and warehousing procedures, FIFO and LIFO methods, bills of material, and manufacturing documentation
  • awareness of legislative changes regarding drawback and their impact
  • previous drawback experience preferred
  • strong analytical and client advisory skills
  • excellent communication and training abilities
  • ability to work effectively within a team
  • familiarity with customs brokerage and compliance procedures

Job Duties

  • Process drawback claims for existing clients
  • assess profitability of drawback for prospective clients
  • devise strategies to enhance the profitability of the client's drawback program
  • advise prospective and existing clients on the advantages of employing drawback strategies
  • maximize client's drawback program by presenting strategies to expand refund opportunities
  • direct and train T&B sales organization and account managers
  • identify target market segments
  • recommend changes in process or additional drawback contracts to enhance profitability
  • formulate and maintain policies and procedures related to drawback to ensure compliance
  • prepare drawback ruling requests to CBP headquarters and local offices
  • provide drawback operational information and technical advice through memos, trade bulletins, and tradelines
  • engage in outreach programs including seminars and presentations to increase client base
  • maintain a current and complete drawback reference library
  • conduct periodic reviews and audits of internal policies and claims for consistency and integrity
  • perform other duties as assigned
