Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in sports, business management, or related field recommended
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in sports and entertainment operations or project management with emphasis on events
  • Proficiency in software tools such as spreadsheets, databases, and web applications
  • Strong budget management and forecasting skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in sports and entertainment operations or project management with an emphasis on events
  • Proficient with software tools including Word, Excel, Outlook, Smartsheet, Visio, and PowerPoint
  • Diplomatic personality with ability to collaborate with diverse groups under pressure
  • Strong budget management skills with the ability to forecast and track expenses
  • Excellent written communication skills for analyzing and disseminating detailed information
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Bachelor’s degree in Sports, Business Management, or related field recommended

Job Duties

  • Provide analytical insights and decision support across all operational planning initiatives
  • Create, implement, and manage cross-departmental schedules including timelines and milestones
  • Collaborate with inter-departmental teams to identify issues and necessary corrective actions
  • Develop and execute communication strategy for management, staff, vendors, and partners
  • Implement tracking platforms for race day statistics including attendance and sales forecasts
  • Identify and drive strategic enhancements to the guest services program
  • Support budgeting and forecasting including operating budgets and capital expense planning
  • Develop and oversee staffing plans for parking and crowd management including Derby Week and live racing
  • Negotiate and implement vendor and parking contracts
  • Design and oversee Derby Week credentialing system
  • Spearhead Derby Week parking and transport planning including shuttles and traffic
  • Oversee facility parking operations including staffing, SOPs, and traffic flow
  • Maintain venue and parking information and documentation
  • Provide oversight for crowd management contract ensuring standards for training and safety
  • Design and implement crowd manager training for emergency scenarios
  • Assist Vice President, Operations with wayfinding plans for Derby Week and live racing
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
