Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, arts administration, or related field
  • Minimum five years of leadership experience in high-level event planning
  • Minimum three years of experience in higher education, preferably community college
  • Experience preparing and monitoring budgets
  • Experience managing staff reports
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure
  • Technical proficiency with Microsoft Office and business systems
  • Ability to interact professionally with high-profile guests
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
  • Ability to travel frequently on campus and to other locations
  • Must demonstrate strong follow-up and organizational skills

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, arts administration, or related field
  • Graduate degree preferred
  • Minimum three years of work experience in higher education, preferably at a community college
  • Minimum five years of leadership experience in high-level event planning
  • Proven track record of project management and vendor negotiation
  • Experience managing budgets and staff reports
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Technical literacy with QuickBooks and Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Ability to handle high-profile guests with professionalism and discretion
  • Detail-oriented with strong multi-tasking abilities under pressure
  • Ability to develop marketing and sales strategies
  • Experience with policy development and financial oversight
  • Demonstrated leadership in staff supervision and development
  • Familiarity with event facility operations and strategic revenue growth

Job Duties

  • Provide leadership, vision, strategy, and execution of complex campus events
  • Manage event planning logistics, production, budgets, staffing, communications, and post-event analysis
  • Provide concierge-level service to internal and external guests including trustees, donors, and elected officials
  • Lead planning, logistical coordination, and execution of college-wide and department events
  • Facilitate external constituents' use of campus facilities and manage revenue opportunities
  • Oversee budget management, authorize expenditures, and ensure fiscal controls
  • Supervise related staff, establish performance goals, and encourage professional development
  • Develop and communicate college policies and procedures for campus facility use
  • Design and implement marketing plans, manage event calendars, and coordinate with communications
  • Prepare and monitor operational budgets targeting auxiliary revenue goals
  • Handle high-level operational or personnel issues and recommend staff needs
  • Lead the Events Super User committee and maintain vendor and stakeholder relationships
  • Research and develop new business opportunities for campus event spaces
  • Report on conference center and events performance to executive leadership
  • Participate in college committees, including the President's Learning Council and Board meetings
