Job Requirements

  • Six months of experience as a professional custodian
  • Knowledge of cleaning products and methods for tile, wood, cement, and carpet floors
  • Understanding of healthy and safe work practices, PPE, and SDS sheets
  • Ability to lift 25 lb and move 100 lb
  • Basic English reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills
  • Ability to comprehend technical and safety documentation
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Basic problem-solving and priority-setting skills
  • Professional and respectful behavior
  • Customer service proficiency
  • Ability to work in a team environment

Job Qualifications

  • Six months of experience working as a professional custodian
  • Knowledge of cleaning products and methods for different floor surfaces
  • Knowledge of healthy and safe work practices including use of PPE and SDS sheets
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lb and move up to 100 lb
  • Basic English skills including reading and understanding safety documentation
  • Ability to communicate clearly and convey information effectively
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision in varied settings
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work within a team
  • Preferred experience includes custodial work in college/university, hotel, hospital, or property management settings

Job Duties

  • Provide quality customer service during each interaction with internal and external customers
  • Dust, wipe, and clean moldings, windowsills, handrails, door tracks, radiators, furniture, inside and outside windows
  • Sweep, mop, and clean floors and stairwells
  • Strip or scrub floors using buffers, auto scrubbers, and other equipment
  • Vacuum, sweep, shampoo, and spot-clean rugs and carpets
  • Clean and polish furniture and kitchen appliances
  • Clean and disinfect restrooms including toilets, urinals, sinks and fixtures, and restock paper products and soap
  • Pick up trash and debris and empty wastebaskets
  • Follow university Zero Waste and Sustainability initiatives
  • Perform event setup by moving and arranging tables and chairs
  • Conduct basic maintenance and safety inspections of custodial equipment
  • Secure areas such as entrance and office doors
  • Adhere to university and departmental safety guidelines
  • Perform other duties as assigned
