Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in sports management, marketing, business, tourism, or related field
  • 0-2 years of experience in sports tourism, destination marketing, or sports event sales
  • excellent communication skills
  • strong organizational abilities
  • proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office
  • ability to travel up to 25%
  • ability to work independently and in a team
  • knowledge of Mississippi's sports venues and hospitality industry
  • understanding of sports tourism and event recruitment

Job Duties

  • Coordinate the sports program within the Office of Sports and Outdoor Adventure
  • solicit, recruit, and book sporting events utilizing Mississippi's venues
  • implement sales strategies and plans to achieve sports tourism growth goals
  • maintain professional relationships with sports clubs, organizations, venues, and event producers
  • create and manage a client base of prospects with regular outreach
  • represent Visit Mississippi at sports trade shows and industry events
  • coordinate and conduct site tours and sporting sales activities to secure new business
  • collaborate with marketing department to develop promotional materials
  • maintain accurate records of sales and marketing activities
  • stay updated on industry trends and best practices
  • work collaboratively with internal teams
  • travel as required for client meetings and site visits
