Job Duties
- Washing dishes: scraping, rinsing, and loading dishes, glassware, and utensils into dishwashers or washing by hand
- Sanitizing: maintaining proper cleaning and sanitizing procedures to ensure all items meet health and safety standards
- Organizing storage: properly storing clean dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment in designated areas
- Maintaining dish area: keeping the dishwashing area clean, organized, and free of clutter
- Trash removal: emptying trash and recycling receptacles and ensuring proper disposal
- Floor maintenance: keeping kitchen floors clean and dry, including sweeping and mopping
- Assisting with food and prep: some dishwashers may also help with basic food preparation tasks, such as peeling vegetables or portioning food
- Following safety and sanitation procedures: adhering to all food safety guidelines and sanitation procedures
- Reporting issues: notifying the kitchen supervisor of any sanitation or equipment issues
- Maintaining dishwashing machines: ensuring dishwashers are functioning properly and reporting any malfunctions
- Assisting with closing duties: may help with sanitizing cooking and food prep areas at the end of shift
- Unloading and storing deliveries as well as maintaining dry storage areas and shelves
- Cleaning and sanitizing storage areas, including refrigerators and freezers
- Assisting with other cleaning tasks needed
