Job Requirements

  • Requires bachelor’s degree in a job related field
  • Minimum of one year of job related experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Must be reachable outside normal work hours
  • Willingness to work after hours and weekends for events
  • Ability to plan and organize events of various scales
  • Attention to detail and ability to coordinate multiple event elements
  • Flexibility and adaptability to address unexpected challenges
  • Creativity in promotional design
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Must work full time onsite in Columbia, South Carolina

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • At least one year of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Creativity in event planning and promotional activities
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends
  • Proficiency with database management and report generation
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Keen attention to detail and problem-solving skills

Job Duties

  • Plan, organize, and execute special events such as galas, homecoming celebrations, luncheons, and visits
  • Collaborate with university departments, student organizations, and external partners for event planning
  • Coordinate logistical aspects including venue, catering, audiovisual equipment, permits, and security
  • Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and secure sponsorships
  • Design and implement promotional strategies using marketing channels like social media and email
  • Develop and manage budgets, track expenses, and optimize costs
  • Maintain alumni databases and generate reports
  • Conduct post-event evaluations and prepare performance reports
  • Support alumni engagement and donor stewardship programs
  • Perform other assigned duties to support college initiatives
