Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with relevant major
  • four to six years previous experience in program/event coordination
  • at least two years administrative and supervisory experience
  • willingness to work varying hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • possession of a valid Georgia Class C driver's license
  • ability to manage physical demands of work environment
  • adherence to city policies and procedures
  • compliance with safety standards
  • effective communication skills in English both orally and in writing.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in event planning, marketing, hospitality, or related field
  • four to six years of experience in event or program coordination
  • two years of administrative and supervisory experience
  • knowledge of municipal budget preparation and control
  • proficiency with Microsoft 365 and office procedures
  • skills in graphic design and public relations
  • ability to lead staff and volunteers
  • strong organizational and communication skills
  • experience with marketing and advertising for community events
  • knowledge of safety and security protocols related to event management
  • customer service and problem-solving abilities.

Job Duties

  • Plan, schedule, assign, supervise, review, and participate in the production of city special events
  • assist marketing teams in advertising, marketing, and publicity efforts
  • provide guidance to vendors, volunteers, and event partners
  • oversee the RFP/bid process for event goods and services
  • prepare and monitor event budgets and finances
  • supervise and evaluate vendor and event coordinator performance
  • participate in staff recruitment, training, and discipline
  • communicate effectively with public, city employees, sponsors, and vendors
  • ensure compliance with safety procedures and coordinate safety/security plans
  • organize and attend committee meetings
  • supervise application process for non-city produced events
  • maintain databases and calendars related to events
  • perform site visits and event footprint preparations
  • maintain relationships with media and public for event publicity
  • oversee post-event analysis and volunteer coordination
  • assist with training interns
  • manage invoicing and payments
  • provide customer service and resolve conflicts.
