Job Requirements

  • Degree in recreation or related field
  • two years experience in developing, implementing and promoting special events and activities, or any combination of education and experience equivalent
  • valid Texas driver’s license
  • CPR/1st Aid certification or ability to obtain certification within 30-days of employment

Job Duties

  • Develop, implement and promote a variety of special events and activities for the community
  • solicit sponsorships from businesses and corporations to offset event expenses
  • seek partnerships and maintain existing partner relationships to allow for the sharing of resources
  • interact and coordinate with other agencies and civic organizations for innovative and creative events and activities
  • prepare flyers, brochures, news releases, website updates, and other promotional materials as part of a comprehensive marketing strategy for events and activities
  • communicate effectively and courteously with customers, vendors, media and staff in person, in writing, via e-mail or telephone
  • recruit, train, schedule, motivate, monitor and evaluate seasonal, contractual and volunteer staff
