Job Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Meet regular attendance requirements
  • Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships with staff, co-workers, managers, and citizens
  • Must accomplish essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations
  • Pre-employment screening including background check and drug test

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or high school diploma or GED with five plus years of experience in program and large-scale event management, urban recreation programming, safety/emergency response, communications, marketing, or related field including supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and executing public and private events
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in budget management
  • Ability to collaborate across departments and with community stakeholders
  • Skilled in using MS Office including Excel and presentation software

Job Duties

  • Develop and implement long-term strategies for special events that align with the City’s mission
  • Establish and administer policies and procedures for the Special Event Permit process
  • Oversee the development and execution of a diverse range of events
  • Coordinate logistics, manage vendor relationships, and marketing efforts
  • Evaluate and facilitate procurement of equipment, supplies, and capital needs
  • Prepare and manage budgets for special events and programming
  • Supervise and guide activities of the Guest Services Specialist and provide team training and mentorship
