Job Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older
- Possess a valid driver's license
- Be insurable on TZMI's insurance carrier
- Must be able to work weekends and evenings
- Ability to move about frequently
- Ability to sit and stand frequently
- Ability to reach with hands and arms frequently
- Ability to carry or lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to push or pull up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to grip, pinch, write, and use hands frequently
- Ability to interact clearly and professionally with employees and public
- Must receive negative result on 10-panel pre-placement drug screening including THC prior to employment
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from a college or university
- Minimum two years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, employees, and the general public
- Ability to calculate figures and apply them to practical situations
- Strong organization skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Excel
- Ability to use Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
- Familiarity with donor databases such as Altru or equivalent
- Knowledge of internet browsers such as Explorer, Chrome, Safari
Job Duties
- Plan and manage all logistical and operational facets of fundraising and special events including ZooRun, Conservation on Tap, WALTZ, HallowZOOeen, Dreamnight, event groundbreakings and ribbon cuttings, and donor society functions
- Prepare and maintain detailed event timelines and budgets with Vice President of Philanthropy
- Collect payments received at and for events
- Coordinate event invitations and mailings
- Oversee event logistics, decor, signage, food and beverage, entertainment, and volunteers
- Participate in evening and weekend event setup and takedown
- Make adjustments to staffing and logistics to ensure successful events
- Complete event wrap-up reports and post-event summaries
- Maintain detailed event files including timelines, budgets, vendor contracts, and decor
- Serve as liaison between staff, vendors, and community volunteers
- Contribute to meetings to plan event calendar, themes, and promotions
- Coordinate annual calendar of events with Marketing, Private Events, Education, and Admissions/Membership
- Evaluate the effectiveness of special events and recommend improvements
- Seek cost savings and in-kind donations
- Assist with donor cultivation through events, communications, and follow-up
- Collaborate on event sponsorship deliverables
- Support planning and implementation of donor society events
- Communicate professionally with all levels of employees
- Adhere to workplace values and policies including emergency protocols
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions
