The City is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Special Events Manager to lead, plan, and execute the City's signature community events. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in hospitality event management tourism public relations recreation administration or related field
  • Minimum three years of experience in hospitality event management or related field
  • At least two years of supervisory experience
  • Valid driver's license

Job Qualifications

  • Combination of education and experience equivalent to bachelor's degree in hospitality event management tourism public relations recreation administration or related field
  • Three years of experience in hospitality event management or related field
  • Two years of experience in a supervisory role
  • Experience working in municipal government and or county level event operations
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Certified Festival and Event Executive certification

Job Duties

  • Provides vision and leadership for the City's special events program aligning events with organizational goals community values and strategic priorities
  • Evaluates existing processes events and workflows and recommends new opportunities to expand special events and sponsorship programs
  • Develops implements and monitors the division's goals objectives policies and priorities ensuring alignment with overall department goals
  • Reviews current and future requirements from needs assessments to develop short and long-range plans that anticipate and meet operational needs
  • Stays abreast of trends in marketing entertainment music and community interests to guide program development
  • Oversees division recruitment hiring training and regular team evaluations fostering a positive culture of collaboration and accountability
  • Prioritizes work activities and ensures team members have the proper resources and development opportunities to meet objectives
  • Manages special events and sponsorship budgets including developing and monitoring expenditures for federal state and local funds
  • Oversees the acceptance reception and collection of all payments following financial control procedures
  • Prepares and recommends major purchases capital expenditures and budget requests following financial guidelines
  • Monitors contracts and contractors to ensure compliance with contractual obligations
  • Tracks and analyzes event performance metrics attendance satisfaction surveys ROI sponsorship value and economic impact to guide future planning
  • Develops tracks and reports on key performance indicators and communicates performance outcomes and recommendations to leadership council and other stakeholders
  • Reviews and monitors safety procedures protocols and daily operations to ensure compliance with all federal state local and health and safety regulations
  • Works closely with all City departments including Police Fire and Emergency Management to ensure seamless logistics public safety facility readiness and contingency planning for events
  • Leverages technology to track registrations attendance financial performance and related data
  • Maintains knowledge of permit application processes city ordinances and city policies coordinating with other departments and media outlets
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with residents businesses sponsors and community partners to foster collaboration and support for events
  • Acts as a liaison to organize and conduct event meetings coordinating facilities press and invitations for individuals and groups
  • Partners with the Marketing and Digital Media division to promote programs through City publications newsletters e-blasts and other media
  • Investigates and responds to complaints from residents and businesses concerning staff instructors programs and facilities
  • Ensures proper asset and inventory management and maintenance of assigned resources
  • Participates in professional organizations and marketing information groups to advance knowledge and network with other industry professionals
  • Follows City policies procedures and safety guidelines
  • Performs other duties as assigned
