Job Requirements

  • College degree required
  • Minimum three years working knowledge of décor design business operations and flowers
  • Two years experience in sales for special events
  • Knowledge of DMC, event management or hotel service business
  • Excellent communication and guest relation skills
  • Knowledge of program design and development
  • Ability to present information effectively and respond to client questions
  • Ability to calculate program costs, percentages, profit margins, and perform mathematical calculations involved in proposals and contracts
  • Must be able to sit, stand, stoop or bend for durations up to eight hours
  • Maintain neat, clean and well-groomed appearance
  • Willingness to follow uniform guidelines
  • Must pass pre-employment substance abuse testing

Job Qualifications

  • College degree required

  • Proficient in selling décor, proposal writing and services
  • Excellent communication and guest relation skills
  • Knowledge of program design development from inception through contract
  • Skilled in client development including lead follow-up and closing business
  • Able to present information effectively to clients and partners
  • Ability to calculate program costs, profit margins, and contract negotiations

Job Duties

  • Meet with clients both in-house and off site
  • DMC sales experience
  • Self-motivated, strong work ethic and ambition
  • High level of organizational and time management ability
  • Ensure all proposals are at recommended profit margins
  • Keep up to date with new trends and services
  • Contact clients timely for proposals and edits
  • Promote BBD designed events
  • Cost, write and price proposals for themed events
  • Send and insure client’s receipt of proposals timely
  • Follow up with clients and vendors about proposed items to ensure clear understanding of proposals
  • Alert and involve Production, Floral and Production Installation Crews of proposed items timely
  • Follow up with internal and external departments concerning event details
  • Follow up with Purchasing Agent and Vendors for specific product needs
  • Ensure proposed items are available and ready for installation
  • Ensure client commitment to proposed items timely
  • Lead the installation of events to deliver client’s vision
  • Ensure all hired decor and talent are ready for event start time
  • Follow up with client to ensure event satisfaction within 24 business hours
  • Assist in production departments to prepare for events
  • Assist other sales managers when overscheduled
  • Forecast and secure future business leads
  • Assist Catering, Convention and Hotel Sales Managers in promoting services
  • Develop mailings, marketing materials, and phone sales
  • Follow up with billing inquiries professionally
  • Promote and inspire creativity in production and sales staff
  • Instruct and promote safe work standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned
